Almost to the end of the rainbow

The end of the rainbow holds:
coffee dates,
holding hands,
neighborhood bike rides,
my own car,
my grandmother,
my love,
my friends,

Only a handful of days and I will be back where my heart is.

I will try and be back later with something inspirational!

Merry May Handmade Giveaway + Iced Coffee

My friend Ashley of Merry May Handmade is hosting a super sweet giveaway on her blog.
She is giving away a few different items, from a few different bloggers/companies, including something from myself! I highly suggest that you head over to Ashley's blog, enter the amazing giveaway, and follow Ashley's blog while you're at it! Ashley seriously blogs about the cutest, craftiest things, along with tidbits of her every day life, and her blog is a must read!

On another note, I've been really obsessed with making my own cold brewed coffee lately, and drinking black iced tea. In the last few days I've had no desire to drink hot coffee, which is really strange for me. I presume it's do to this hot heat we've been having in Utah the last few days.

Time to get ready for the day!

What I Wore Today & My New Mary-Janes

This morning I took a few outfit photos so I could show off my light grey footless We Love Colors tights. I decided to pair them w/ a American Apparel shirt, a floral skirt from Nordstroms, and my new Dansko mary-janes.

My bun fell down in the middle of the shoot, but I still liked it.

I bought these mary-janes a few weeks ago after being inspired by the What Would a Nerd Wear blog. My mom has been wearing Dansko for years now, and has offered to buy me a pair of their clogs numerous times, but I just didn't feel like they were really for me. However, after I saw Tania sporting a cute pair of mary-janes, which were made my Dansko, I just knew I could pull them off too. Honestly, I am really excited to wear them around school this fall, paired with some cute tights, and a nice dress. They are super comfy, and I would recommend them to anyone.

I truly am a morning person. I love getting up early, making coffee, and breakfast, and enjoying them together. I love watching the morning news, and browsing blogs, and tweets that I had missed while sleeping.

The early morning is really my time of day, and I wouldn't trade it for a thing.

I'm off for a mid-morning adventure! Here's to hoping I score something cute at the local antique store.

Oh, and Carly is hosting a sweet giveaway on her blog!

New Lion Broach via Kim Smith

Ever since Kim Smith of Art Equals Happy blogged about these adorable lion broaches I knew I had to have one.

(image via Kim)

At the beginning of this month Kim announced that she would be posting a few of her lovely broaches in her Etsy shop, and right then I knew one would be coming my way.

The other day a cute package from Kim arrived all the way from the UK, and inside was this lovely piece:

I am beyond excited about this purchased and I'm super excited to be able to sport it around the PHX downtown campus this Fall. I plan on wearing pinned to my cardigans, and also on my school totes.

Thanks Kim for making/sending me such a beautiful broach! I am very excited to be supporting your work here in the states!

If you're inserted in learning more about Kim and her artistic and life adventures, you can check out here blog here, and also visit her Etsy shop here.

Hope everyone is having a lovely Tuesday evening!

I knit in the summer

A few days ago I started to knit this cowl for the cool winter weather (lets hope we get some this year) in Arizona.

I'm really hoping that it turns out well, and that at the end of this process I will have a new pretty cowl.

Do you knit at all? If so, what's your favorite thing to knit?

Monday Favorites V 5.0

Here I am with another Monday favorites! This week I feel like I'm really all over the board, as lots of pretty things have been catching my eyes, ears, and stomach lately. Enjoy!

1. These pretty earrings that Kelly of Mountain Love sent me. Also, Kelly recently re-vamped her blog and it's extra cute!

2. Mumford & Sons is a lovely band that I recently became familiar with. Their music is calm, and soothing. I highly suggest them for your listening pleasure.

3. Elise Blaha recently posted this cute journal in her Etsy shop. I really need to get my hands on one of these beauties!

4. Lately I've been eating a lot of fresh fruit (thank you summer), and blueberries, cherries, and raspberries have been my snack of choice.

5. Lastly, this pretty tree in front of a family friend's house the other day really caught my eye. I spot red, and orange leaves just waiting for Fall to come.

Hope you're enjoying your day, and that it's being filled with creativity!

DIY Cold Brewed Coffee

The other day I stumbled upon this post on DIY cold brewed coffee. Being a true coffee lover, and someone who is also dealing with immense heat lately I said "hey, I can do that too." So I followed this simple recipe, and the outcome was a delicious brew of yummy iced coffee. I do have to warn you though, the recipe doesn't make very much, so I double the ingredients so I would have more than just one cup of it (in the end I had about three or four).

Here are a few pictures from when I was making the iced coffee (just to show you how easy it was):

After I coarsely grounded the right amount of coffee, and added it to the suggested amount of water, I put it all in a cut open plastic water jug (really wish I had a glass jar at that moment) and covered it with a paper towel and rubber band and let it rest for the night.

In the morning the coffee mixture looked like this:

Then I filter it using my pour-over, but use can filter it any way you want.

After the mixture was done filtering it waited to be added to my cup of iced:

And finally it was done, iced coffee:

Also, I do suggested enjoying this yummy drink with a good breakfast, or afternoon snack!

If anyone decides to make iced coffee using this recipe, please let me know how it turns out!

Have a lovely Friday everyone!

Nostalgic Moment (couldn't help myself)

"You are the smell before rain, you are the blood in my veins"-Brand New

While Scott was visiting we listened to all of Brand New's CDs on shuffle during one of our drives. Just a minute ago I saw this post on Sarah's blog that was devoted to Brand New and instantly a wave of emotions overwhelmed me. Maybe I'm just emotional in general tonight, but this line always gets me. So beautiful, and dark in its own way.

Thursday (Monday) Favorites V 4.0

Here I am this morning with another lovely list of my weekly favorites. I know this was supposed to be updated on Monday, but I honestly just let it slip my mind. Anyways, here are five things that are currently favorites in my book.

1. The Cracking Good blog is penned by a lovely lady that goes by the name of Carrie Wheeler. Carrie is a writer, blogger, book illustrator, and online media teacher at the Cronkite School for Journalism and Mass Communication (where I go to school). Carrie blogs about all kinds of things including, but not limited to, gardening, fashion, and what's good to do on the weekends in the greater Phoenix (AZ) area. Carrie is super talented and her blog is a must read!

2.Recently I fell in love with these beautiful Salt Water Sandals. I've seen them mentioned in a few different places, but specifically on the I Go By Katie blog (which the photo was borrowed from). These sandals were originally made in the 1940's, and generally every kid on the block had a pair (including my mom). Two days ago I ordered myself, and my grandmother each a pair. I can't wait to get them in the mail!

3. I absolutely adore this belt by Katie. As mentioned before, Katie blogs here, and is the owner of the Darlingtonia Moccasins Co. where she hand-makes beautiful moccasins, and now accessories as well. If you haven't checked out her blog or shop yet, I highly suggest you do so.

4. Yesterday I pre-ordered the new Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin album, Let it Sway, and was offered a free MP3 download of the entire record before it comes out in August. This band is one of my favorites and their new album is amazing.

5. A few days ago I saw this lovely set of wedding photos by Jill Thomas. Now, I know I've seen these pictures floating around on other's blogs, but I just loved them too much not to share. The groom of this wedding was Forrest Kline of Hellogoodbye, and I am just smitten with the style of his and his wife Chelsea's wedding.

There you go, five new things I'm currently loving.

What are you loving right now?

School Supplies for a College Senior

This morning my cousin asked me if I could drive him to the mall so he could do some school supply shopping for his niece (he really is such a good uncle). While waiting for him I decided to do a little school shopping myself. I honestly tried to fight the urge and to just wait until I got back to Arizona, however, I let the excitement and paper nerd in me take over and I ended up getting almost everything I need for the semester.

The goods: three folders (1 for each class I have this semester), standard college ruled notebook, cute woodgrain college ruled notebook, sharpie pens (the only pens I use anymore, they work super well I'm trying to jot down notes at record speed), Mumford & Sons CD (because I just couldn't help myself, Rhodia mini black notebook (I bought Scott a orange one awhile back and I wanted a matching one), and finally a elephant lunch-bag. Now, you may same I'm silly for getting such a whimsical lunch-bag, but I really like having fun ones, as I carry it every day, and this one was a good price, is made out of nice wet-suit material, and came with a ice pack!

When I get back home I might find myself picking up a few more supplies i.e. cute notebooks, but for now I am good and happy.

Have you gone shopping for school supplies yet? Do you like to shop for them even though you're not in school anymore?

Minolta X-700 - Thrifted

Recently, I picked up this beauty for $5 in a thrift store in Gunnison, Colorado.

According to a few different google searches this lady was the top of the line in her day, and currently goes anywhere from $100-200 on the interweb. Did I mention that I bought it with film already in it? Well, I did. I plan on getting it developed and I'm hoping for some neat vintage pictures.

What has been your best score while out thrifting recently?

Paper Journal- A Work in Progress

A few weeks ago I mentioned how my new paper journal from Elise Blaha had arrived. Well, since then I've done a little creative journaling, and photo applying to my cute new journal. Here are a few pictures of the pages I've finished so far (enjoy!):

As you can see, I've sporadically added printed digital photos, Fuji instax photos, washi masking tape, handmade ribbon tape, and also personal notes. I'm really loving the style and flow of this journal, and I'm already wishing that I wasn't going to fill up the whole thing so soon (but that just means I'll have to buy another one).

What are you currently working on?
