A Forrest Walk

Sometimes I can't get over how beautiful, and different it is here compared to Phoenix. I truly believe that nature is good for the soul, and lately I've been trying to take in as much soul soothing moments as I can.

I've also been spending a lot of time re-discovering old favorite albums. In high school I was obsessed with Brand New, Copeland, The Format, Ben Kweller, Stars, etc. just to name a few. Lately I've been loving my Stars and The Format music catalogues. Interventions and Lullabies and Set Yourself on Fire were two of my very favorite albums back then (and still are today). Sometimes it's nice to listen that music and re-visit old memories and times in my life. It's truly crazy to think that I graduated high school over five years ago. Time sure has zoomed by.

In addition to loving up on some of my old favorite albums, I have also been in search of some new, pretty music. Recently I added the new Death Cab and The Strokes albums to my collection (I bought the Death Cab album on vinyl and cd!), and have been in search of the new Eisley, and also a Jack Johnson album my cousin told me I just had to have. I know I could buy all of these in iTunes, but I really love going into a record store and purchasing my music there. Record shops are an experience in themselves, and I just love supporting local shops.

What music have you been into lately? What were some of your favorite albums in high school? And what about today?

  1. Such beautiful surroundings! I agree with you, nature is good for the soul. :-) And of course you look incredibly beautiful too!

I'm kind of an old lady when it comes to my favorite albums...Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Dean Martin...they've been on repeat on my iPod for years. I never get tired of it.

  3. Hmm my favorite HS albums were anything from the Hush Sound, Treble Charger, The Academy Is, Blink-182, and alot of other stuff I can't remember! xD

I still listen to them but not as much now...I've listened to Eric Hutchinson since I was a freshman in HS and I'm a junior in undergrad now. Haha xD he's been so constant in my life. I really adore Relient K as well! If I really love it...it usually sticks with me for a long time. :)

  4. Hah I graduated high school EIGHT years ago! How crazy is THAT? Two away from ten. Yikes. My favorite bands in high school were Dashboard Confessional, Alkaline Trio, A New Found Glory, The Get Up Kids, and Saves the Day. I could listen to them (& did) all day long.

I'm loving those boots. I really need to get a pair like that. Although I'm not sure WHEN Brian and I will be honeymooning, it's looking like it'll be in San Francisco, where such boots are a necessity. :)

  5. As usual, I'm right there with you on the music nostalgia. I listened to Set Yourself on Fire constantly during my freshman year of college. I've been digging the new Death Cab as well, but Eisley has been on repeat for the last two months for me. I got to see them at a showcase I worked at SXSW this year, and shortly after acquired their latest album. It's super sad and honest (since it's a breakup album) but it's gorgeous and way more mature than their older stuff. (My favorite song is Ambulance, btw.) I've loved growing up with that band.

Be sure to let us know how you like it when you get ahold of it!
