500 Days Of Winter

This past weekend 500 Days of Summer was playing on Bravo and I just couldn't help but watch it. I don't often watch movies at home, but I just couldn't pass up the chance to watch such a darling film. Even though the plot line seems so screwed up, I'm honestly a huge fan. I've always been into movies and books where things don't quite turned out as planned (and had a darker side to them). Maybe all that Sylvia Plath I read during my time as undergraduate had more of an impact on myself that I thought (who am I kidding, of course it did! i will forever be affected by her amazing writing and thoughts).

I've really been loving these maryjanes from Blowfish Shoes. In my closet I feel like I lack in shoes that have substance. Ya know, the kind you can wear all day on long outings. Sure, I have moccasins, but my feet get tired from the almost inexistent padding they have. These Explodes on the other hand, have really great padding and I feel like I could wear them all day. In the past few years shoes with support and comfort have been a must for Scott, and I feel like I'm just now jumping on the band wagon. Any suggestions for shoes you love that are extra comfortable?

Today I hope to get a lot accomplish in terms of grad school work. I have a feeling this semester is going to be challenging, but isn't that what grad school is supposed to be? I feel like I'm still struggling to find my place in the program, and with my unconventional school schedule. I things always seem harder in the beginning, and I'm hoping to get in a good groove with everything soon. Is it weird that I desperately miss getting up really early, driving downtown, and sitting in class with my coffee in hand? Yep, maybe a little.

What are you up to today? Any suggestions for finding a routine that works for you?

  1. Those mary-janes look just like my old Doc Martens! I love that! Blowfish shoes are way too comfortable and is probably why it's one of my favorite shoe companies. I love that scarf you have on by the way...too cute.

    xoxo, Jjanga

  2. your winter outfits are so funny to me, they are just so 'fall' (minus a jacket) for us canadians. i wish we had your weather...we're inundated with snow and ice and freezing rain here lately which does not make for great walking or driving conditions.

i want to wear a few layers and be comfortable too!! not for another 2 months at LEAST :(

  3. Have you seen Blue Valentine, Chelsea? Now THAT is a dark love story. I recommend it, but you may be tempted to stick your head in the oven afterwards.

    Love your outfit! :)

  4. I've been really, really trying to make my mornings count, because in the evening I have a class, or run a group, every evening. Plus, the evenings are when I want to spend time with Harbor, and cook dinner, etc. I'm having a hard time finding a rhythm this semester as well. I'm not very good at it yet, but I'm beginning to jot down a morning plan the night before so I can just wake up and follow it, and my groggy brain can trust that my more functional brain the night before knew was it was doing when it was planning it out.

Hope you fall into a good groove soon!

  5. So cute! Reminds me of a vintage sailor :)

  6. loveeee that scarf thing you got going on!

  7. I got my first pair of Birkenstock sandals (the Granada style) this past summer. I wore them all summer and I stopped getting foot cramps because of their awesome arch support. I've also found that my Dr. Marten boots (once broken in) are absurdly comfortable.

The best thing I've found for my routine is mostly to wake up at the same time every day, if not I feel all out of sorts! My semester only started two days ago though, so I feel like I still have things to sort out.

  8. toms are actually super comfy all day shoes and they have arch support. i just got the black sequin ones and i want to wear them every day. plus the one for one concept is pretty cool too :)

  9. oh, man. I love sylvia plath. and 500 days of summer is one of my favorite movies because of the anti-love story style of it. Plus, I'm a huge Joseph Gordon Levitt fan! You're not crazy for loving the mixed up plot line :)

i love how you styled the head scarf! I need to brave up and give it a try.
