Just wanted to stop in to say I hope everyone is having a beautiful Wednesday and that your day is filled with lots of rest (or at least endless mugs of coffee) and something extra special that makes you happy! I got to spend the morning and afternoon today with my little Scout and it was THE best! Can't wait to take him on more outings to my favorite places in Phoenix!
What are you up to today?

Ever have one of those weeks where things are just so crazy busy, but everything that is meant to happen seems to fall into place just perfectly? I'm having one of those weeks and I am SO happy about it.
The past few days have just been so awesome and I feel like I can hardly put my feelings about them into words. I randomly ran into two old friends that I haven't seen in about five years, and the next day had coffee with another friend whom I haven't seen in over two years! Like I said, the past few days have been pretty special and I'm loving all of the positive vibes that are floating around in my life!
Lately I've been loving this pretty Peony lipstick from Radiant Cosmetics! It's the perfect shade of pink and has a really nice texture to it! Over the past few months I've been learning love to lipsticks, and I've been having a lot of fun with them so far. I'm thinking next I would like to try out Nars' Schiap and Mac's Creme Cup! Do you have a favorite lipstick?
School has been super busy for both Scott and I lately. It seems like every evening we have a list of things to do (reading, quizzes, reviews, tests, and repeat), but I'm trying to tell myself that this year is probably the last time I'll have to go through this and I should just enjoy it and work hard to get through it because come May it will be all over. It's crazy to think that graduation is not that far away now, as it truly feels like I just started grad school!

The LuLu*s Style Studio event is fast approaching! Have you RSVPd yet? I am SO excited for this event and can't wait to meet so many fashionable bloggers! Let me know if you're coming in the comments!

I am SO excited to announce that the amazing Tumblweeds Handcraft and I have collaborated on a pair of "Chelsea" designed Tumblweeds sunnies! I am so, so happy with the way these lovely wooden wayfarers turned out, and I'm obsessed with anchor detailing! Beca and Doug truly did an amazing job on all five blogger collection designs!
The sunglasses I help designed, along with the other blogger collection shades and a few other styles, are on sale right now on Fab.com! Since it's the first day of Fall I say treat yourself and pick up a pair of these amazing Tumbleweeds Handcraft shades (promise you won't regret it!).
What style is your favorite?

Well, it's officially the last day of summer and I am certainly excited that it is finally here. This morning Scott and I celebrated with our last summer hoorah, making peach pancakes for breakfast! We also went on a long walk around Tempe Town Lake where the temperature proved to us that although it's almost fall, the weather won't be partaking in celebrating for awhile. I'm not going to let this get me down though and have been thinking about pulling out my favorite boots for a weekend around town (thanks to Mandy for the inspiration last night, she was rocking a fall look that I loved!).
We had a rather warm evening last night and this sweet vintage skirt from Water Lily Thrift was just perfect for the weather and all of the running around we did. To be honest, I find that most vintage doesn't fit me quite right (or at least the vintage I've found, loved, and tried on!), but this skirt fits like a dream! It hits my waist at the perfect spot, and falls to a comfortable length. I have to say that I'm pretty smitten with it and will be wearing it through the fall season. I'm also obsessed with the burgundy color, and the pretty floral detail!

Today I'm catching up on emails, doing some school work, and have a family function to attend this evening. This weekend I can't wait to spend some more time with my sweet pup, Scout, and also work on figuring out this new Blogger design a little better (I waited until the last minute to change over to the new system and so far I'm not loving it!).
How are you celebrating the last day of summer?

The sweet folks over at Frances and Smeeks recently interviewed me about blogging and style (and maybe my preference on chocolate or vanilla too!), and yesterday they featured me on their amazing blog. You can check out the sweet interview on the Frances and Smeeks blog right here! Thanks again to the crew of Frances and Smeeks who have always been SO supportive of my blogging. You are all truly such amazing people!

I'm not usually one for big, overall prints, but this dress was just too sweet to pass up. I love the mixture of the dark and lighter colors, and how easy it is to wear.
This dress was another great find from Runway Fashion Exchange in Chandler. I've been loving each piece I picked up from there earlier this month, and can't wait to go back sometime soon and see what new items they have out on their racks. I'm in need of some new fall plaid!

I'm off to class this morning and hoping for a really good day. Tonight one of Scott's classes is meeting at an art museum (jealous) and while he's in class I'm hoping to be able to go visit my parents and pup (they're out of town, but still not very far away). It almost seems crazy how much I miss my little Scout, but honestly he has made my whole world that much brighter and I'm so thankful to have him in our family. I'm already looking forward to dressing him up for Halloween (I may have bought him a skeleton t-shirt!), and I'm really excited to take him on more outings and walks once he's back home. Ok, I'm off to class!
What is making your day today? Are you into prints?

This weekend really seemed to go by in a snap. Friday night Scott and I spent a little time walking around the Mesa Arts Center before their fall season kick-off party. We actually didn't even know there was an event going on that evening, as we had just planned to walk around the arts center and maybe pick up a coffee or a sweet treat to-go on our way out (Sweetcakes and Lo-Fi Coffee Shop are right down the street!), but ended up taking a little extra time to walk around and check out all of the stations they were setting up for the evening.
On our way out of the arts center we spotted a little snow cone stand and decided to get a peach snow cone to share. Lately the evenings around Phoenix have been a little cooler than usual, and also a little breezy (fall really is in the air!). I would be lying if I said I wasn't excited to get back into my layering ways. Even though I really liked this little date night outfit I wore, it would have been just so much more "me" with a pair of tights and a cozy sweater. Soon my friends, very soon!

The other day it hit me that Scott and I haven't really spent as much time as we usually do in downtown Mesa. An old favorite, this downtown space holds so many fun memories for the two of us, including Friday art walks, time spent wandering around the Mesa Arts Center, having a birds eye view while seeing The Decemberists at the arts center, taking more outfit photos in our favorite locations than I can even remember, spending so many hours antiquing at the best antique shop in the area, and also having delicious coffee at the best downtown Mesa coffee shop, Lo-Fi! Old downtown Mesa truly is a gem of an area!
I was recently sent these darling shades from Tortoise & Blonde and have been loving them lately. Tortoise & Blonde sells women's and men's glasses and sunglasses at inexpensive prices, and offer a 10-day home try-on so that you can get comfortable with your new glasses/shades before you order them. The company is also all for social responsibility, and has worked closely with a charitable organization to provide glasses, and also educate to lower income families on how to best care for their child's vision. Right now their new campaign features the slogan "Sit On Your Face," and I couldn't think of a better eyewear company to support!
Lately I've really been loving these Gap skinny jeans I picked up at Runway Fashion Exchange. As many of you may know, I am a Levi's girl for life, but these Gap jeans are giving my Levi's a real run for their money (it also doesn't hurt that they were only $12!).
This picture just makes me giggle so hard! I was actually looking into the camera lens (as I sometimes I do to adjust my hair or necklace) and Scott snapped this silly photo of me. He really is quite good at capturing those candid (and sometimes embarrassing) moments!

Today I'm camped out at a local coffee shop trying to finish up some grad homework, and start to figure out my plan of attack for three lengthy essays I have coming up! I'm hoping to get some serious work done today (crosses fingers!).
What are you up to today? Have any fun plans?

I was recently contacted by Marshalls to see if I would like to participate in a Fall Fashion Challenge (and boy was I ever!). The challenge at hand was that I had to create a whole look for under $100, and was encouraged to create a look inspired by one of fall's top trends: color, prints, and ladylike with an edge. Well, I jumped at this amazing opportunity and had such a great time shopping around Marshalls, checking out all of the great fall pieces they have in right now!
I took my time looking from rack to rack for items that I thought would all fit into one of the fall trends, but once I got into the dressing room I realized that each piece that I picked out and loved seemed to fall into a different trend. The coraly-red cardigan was just that pop of color I was searching for, the mixed print dress was spot on, the gold sequin clutch (which actually may be an iPad case) was very ladylike and the patent leather flats were just that bit of edginess I was looking for. I absolutely love how each trend compliments one another in a unique way, and also love that I can rock each of these pieces separately and still be on-trend with this year's fall fashion trends.
I feel like I should also profess to you my love of this Nine West sequin clutch I spotted in the purse section (they had rose gold colored ones too!). I haven't been much into sequins since my high school days, but absolutely love how elegant and classic this clutch is. I've been feeling my fashion comfort box inching wider, and wider these past few weeks, and this clutch has definitely given me that extra push I needed to bring out my inner sequin-loving self. It really is a beauty!
Marshalls also asked me to share with you, my sweet readers, the secret behind their ability to score on-trend designer pieces for great prices-their buyers! They send their treasure hunting buyers all over the world to find great deals on the hottest items, so that they can have new pieces in their stores each week. I can imagine it would be an amazing job to work as a buyer for Marshalls, as I'm always on the hunt for the perfect garment at the best price!
Outfit details (all c/0 Marshalls):
Grand total: $89.58
I really had a great hunting for the perfect pieces for this fall fashion challenge, and really love everything I found. I think the best part of this whole challenge, though, is that I get to give away a $100 gift card to Marshalls to one lucky reader so they can go on their own fall fashion shopping spree! Keeps your eyes peeled, you just may see the giveaway go up this weekend!
What fall trend are you loving right now?

Last Thursday was a big day for me, I bought my vey first lipstick. After months, and months of watching YouTube videos and reading beauty blogs, I finally felt I had a fair understanding of lipsticks (why do they seem so complicated?) and which ones I thought might work best for me. So after thinking it over, and over again (see, complicated!) I finally took the plunge and bought my very first lipstick, Nars' Heat Wave.
To me, Heat Wave (even with its bold color) seemed like a safe bet. The following behind this cult classic lipstick made me believe that if so many other women loved it and rocked it often, that I could too. Seeing it on my friend, Courtney, also gave me that extra shove I needed to give it a go. I'm already excited to give a few other lipsticks a try and would love to hear what your favorites are!
And because I was feeling a little adventurous with my new lipstick, I though it would be fun to step out of my fashion comfort zone once again with this hip-hugging pencil skirt. Usually, I'm always one for a flowy waistline, but the black and white print on this LuLu*s pencil skirt was too amazing to pass up. I LOVE the stretchy knit fabric, the high waist and how polished it made me feel. I may just have to pick up a few more pencil skirts for fall (think plum, burgundy, and mustard yellow!).

Today I'm headed to class and will probably stop for a coffee and a sweet treat along the way (because that makes going to class that much more better!). I'm also feeling pretty on top of my school work, and think I'm going to take some time and finally finish the book, The Happiness Project, I started way back at the beginning of summer (I'm already excited about her new book!). The LuLu*s Style Studio event is also on my mind and I'm wanting to know how many of you local ladies are coming! Leave me a comment and let me know if you can make it! Ok, have a wonderful day everyone!
