ADIEU, FEBRUARY!

You guys, It's Friday AND the last day of February! Talk about a double whammy! February was a busy, busy month, and I have a hunch that March will be just the same (don't things always seem to pick up in the spring?). Tomorrow is my bestie's birthday, and I'm excited to get my groove on at her 80's themed birthday celebration! Scott is completely stoked about dressing up, but I have no idea what I'm going to wear! I figure, I'm a child of the 80's so I'm sure I've got a pair of acid wash jeans and a little neon hiding in my closet somewhere. We will see!

Tucked away in that same overstuffed closet was this black, white and red ensemble. If I'm being honest, I feel most confident when I decked out in neutrals and solids from head to toe, but this printed skirt gave my neutral ways a run for its money. I picked up this mini skater skirt on a whim one evening when Scott and I were shopping at a local TJ Maxx. Lately, I've been pushing myself to think outside of the box when it comes to my clothing purchases, and this mini style definitely spoke to my boundaries. I'm hoping that once the warm temperatures are hereto stay, that I won't chicken out and hide this gem away in my closet until tights season rolls around again, but since I'm writing this here - hold me to it!

Meet Boots! After a series of odd events, Boots has officially joined our little family. He's a one-year-old tabby that has quite the personality and is full of spunk! He loves paper bags, feathers, and the smell of coffee (literally, every time I sit down to drink a cup he's all over me). He's our third fur baby and I'm so happy that he's a part of our family!

How are you spending your last day of February? What's one item in your closet that pushes your usual style boundaries?

CURLY GIRL

Wow! What a week! I had all intentions of posting yesterday, but the day just seem to slip away from me (as has this month, really). My work days have been extra busy since I took on community management for a new client at work, but I am feeling blessed for this amazing opportunity. On the home front, Scott and I have been spending our evenings relaxing, watching Pawn Stars, and going to the movies with my folks. Last night we went to see 3 Days to Kill, and while it wasn't my kind of movie, it still felt good to get out and hang out in an (almost) empty theater.

Ok, I have a secret to admit. These photos were taken back in January, pre-wedding right after my makeup and hair trial. I figured I couldn't waste a good hair and makeup day, but I thought I would hold on to the photos until after the wedding. On our actual wedding day, I added a BHLDN heaband, a little extra poof in the back of my hair, and a little more eyeshadow + natural lips. I wanted to look myself on our wedding day, and I feel like my amazing hair/MUA, Marianna Marie, helped me to acheive just that.

What are you up to this evening? Any plans for the weekend? I spent all day yesterday thinking that today was Friday! Ah haha! Woops!

TEAL MONDAY

Why do Mondays always have to feel so blue? Yes, Monday means that the weekend is over and it's back to work, but why let it bring us down? Well, today I'm taking the initiative to turn this day teal, ya know, blue's brighter, happier, bolder cousin! I started off my morning with kitty snuggles, iced coffee, and a quick drive to work, and since then, things have been smooth sailing! Well, other than getting salad dressing on my blouse - Whoops!

This weekend Scott and I kept things pretty laid back. On Saturday, we did a little bit of shopping at a local discount store and got take-out Italian for dinner. This particular discount store, Last Chance, is a hot mess of a store that carries new/used/damaged items from Nordstroms and Nordstroms Rack. Half of the time Scott and I go there we don't walk out with anything, but every once in awhile we score. On Saturday, the discount gods must have been shining down on us because I walked away with three dresses amazing at $12 a piece! Woohoo! I felt like I practially stole the things. Anyways, Saturday treated us real well and the weekend was even over yet! On Sunday, I attended a farmers market pop up shop at my local Anthropologie. They had so many goodies and treats, and I felt quite honored that the ladies and gents from Anthro wanted me to be there. The rest of the day was spent people watching, eating leftover Valentine's Day candy, and having dinner with my sweet husband at one of our favorite local restaurants, Liberty Market.

The warmer weather that we've been having around Phoenix has defintiely been putting me in the mood for spring. While I LOVE dark colors, and cold weather digs, it's going to feel good to pop on a bright color and paint my nails with pastels. Oh, and eat some of those yummy Cadbury mini eggs that tend to start circulating in the stores this time of year. We've already eaten a whole bag at our house!

THE GOLDEN HOUR

First things first, today is Scott and I's one month wedding anniversary! Now, you might all say it's silly to celebrate one month, but I figure, we waited 7+ years to get hitched so we can celebrate however we want! It's still so crazy to think that our wedding day, a day that we planned for for nine months, has already came and went. In the midst of planning and preparing, the countdown to our wedding seemed to forever be in double digits. And now? We've already been married for a whole month. Time seems to seriously fly by post-wedding!  Am I right, ladies and gents?

Friday we celebrated our first Valentine's Day as husband and wife! I might have gotten a little teary eyed in the card aisle in Target when I was searching for the perfect husband card. I've always been one for sappy cards, but picking one out for my husband for the first time just felt so emotional. I know there will be many more cards to come in the future, but I don't think I'll ever forget picking out my first card for my sweet husband. Valentine's Day 2014, you sure were good to us!

After our dinner and dessert date Friday night, Scott and I kept it pretty low key for the rest of the weekend. We did a little binge reality tv watching (Duck Dynasty for him, Real Housewives for me), went to bed way early (so early that I woke up at midnight thinking it was morning already), and took the pups to a local dog park a couple of times. I also spent my mornings keeping up with my weekly runs, and sipping on what might be my last few cups of hot coffee until the fall. Today it's supposed to be in the 80s, and there are no signs of it cooling down again. I was hoping for it to stay slightly chilly through March, like last year, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens.

Hm! What else? Well, Scott and I stayed up late last night to watch The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. We've been a fan of his for years now, so it was neat to see his first show as Mr. Tonight Show History was made and Jimmy rocked it! I grew up watching The Tonight Show with my folks, so it's neat to be able to continue on this tradition with my husband. Anyone else grow up watching the tonight show? Did you see Jimmy's first show? What did you think?

Ok, I'm out! Let's make today a wonderful day!

LOVING HIM WAS RED

The holiday of love is upon us and I'm feeling particulary lovey dovey this year. This newylwed has been listening to love songs non-stop and munching on conversation hearts like they're going out of style (well, technically they are). This will be Scott and I's 8th Valentine's Day together (!!!), and while we have no specific plans as of now, I know the day will be incredibly special. On our first Valentine's Day together Scott gave me a bouquet of sunflowers and took silly self-timer photos with me in his old yard. By then, we had been together for four months and were madly in love with each other. We knew we had something special, and now, more than ever, it's feel so great to look back on those moments and photos to see how far we've come. From a couple of teenagers in love, to a newlywed couple. Life sure is sweet!

To balance out life post-wedding and pre-love day (ya know, the one with all of the sweets and treats), I've been running a few times a week at a local outdoor track. I've never been much of a runner, let alone very athletic, but lately I've sure been trying to build up my edurance up and get comfortable with running a few miles every week. For the most part, I've been running in two mile intervals. Some days it's a little less, some days I feel like I can handle a little more. With an office job that leaves me in my seat for eight'ish hours a day, it sure feels good to get out in the fresh air, crank up the music, and just run. I've been using the RunKeeper app to track my daily runs. If anyone is on RunKepper (dowload it!), be sure and add me as a friend.

Ok, I'm off to pick up some love day goodies (See's candies are my favorite!) with my mom, whip up some dinner, and get a little run in! What are you up to this evening? Have any V-day plans? What's your favorite love song?

OUR WEDDING: MOMENTS

On January 18, 2014, after seven years of love, laughter, and friendship, Scott and I tied the knot in Scottsdale, Arizona in front of our family and friends. Our day was truly magical, and was everything that we could have hoped for and more. To start off the first of many post-wedding blog posts, I wanted to share a few "moments" that our sweet photographer, Sarah, kindly sent our way to tide us over until all of our wedding photos are ready. Without further adieu ---

We began the celebrations with our first look on a grassy knoll. Scott stood patiently waiting for me with this back turned while I held my dress high and walked up behind him. When I was ready, I tapped him on the shoulder and whispered, "Are you ready?" Our reactions upon our first looks were sweet and unforgettable (big smiles all around!), and this is a moment that I'm truly thankful we were able to have together. Looking back, I'll never forget how Scott looked at me when he saw me in my dress for the first time. His words and reactions will be forever sealed in my heart.

My father walked me down the aisle to Iron and Wine's version of Such Great Heights by The Postal Service. I'll forever be thankful that we were able to share this sweet moment together - my dad and the daughter that he raised with all of the love and kindess in the world.

My aunt married us in a unique and personal ceremony in a light filled room while the sun was beginning to set. We listened to and spoke words of encouragement and love, prayed, lit a candle of unity together, and said, "we do." With a kiss we were married, and all felt right in the world.

After our ceremony, we took photos with our family, bridal party, and together as a newlywed couple. We battled for good light, but found ourselves on the top of a parking garage engulfed in the prettiest Arizona glow, together as Mr. and Mrs. for the first time.

All photos by Arrow & Apple.

We spent the rest of the evening dancing, sipping on coffees (we had coffee station and the best baristas!), snacking on the most delicious food, snapping photos in the photobooth, mingling with our guests, and taking in every magical moment as possible. The night ended with a sparkler send off! I ran barefoot through the streams of light and tried to capture each face as we past by. The magic in this moment will never be forgotten.

Thank you all for looking and reading about our special day. I hope you enjoyed seeing and reading my thoughts on these momments, and I look forwarding to sharing more in the weeks to come.
Sincerely,
Mrs. G xo

CRANBERRY CRUSH

Happy February! We're only five days into the month, but I already have a feeling that it's going to be a very busy one. Work has kept me plenty busy during the day, and I've just been trying to relax a little and snuggle with my pups at night (and over the weekend!) - hence the crickets around here. I have so many things that I'm excited for this month, and I'm hoping for a very productive February! I'm also very excited for Valentine's Day this year because I finally get to buy Scott a "Happy V-Day, husband" card! Haha - It's really the little things.

Lately, Phoenix has been all over the map when it comes to weather. Last week it was warm and no sweater was really necesary if you were running around outside. This week, however, it has been chilly! On Monday, I only left my office once to pick up lunch (right next door), and yesterday, bundling up was a must before my walk to a local sandwhich shop. Honestly, though, you won't hear me complaining more about the cold - I'm hoping this winter weather sticks around just a little bit longer so we can have more backyard bonfires and cozy nights in. Oh, and getting to wear my winter wardrobe without sweating to death is a major bonus as well! How's the weather been around you lately? Are you over this cold, or are you hoping it sticks around for awhile longer?

Scott and I have been married two and a half weeks and we already have a few of our wedding photos back! Our sweet photographer, Sarah, wanted us to have some photos of our big day before she and her family started their move across the country (miss them already!). I've already shared a few on my Instagram, but I was thinking of  posting a few here as well. I was planning on waiting until we had them all so I could put them in order - from getting ready, to our sparkler exit - but why not share a few early? Right? Right! I also have tons of photos from our honeymoon to share, and want to put together a list of everywhere we went and loved - which is about 95% coffee shops! Just kidding ;)

Today, I have a full day of meetings ahead of me and I'm hoping this homemade iced coffee that I've been sipping on kicks in real soon! *yawn* On Monday, I got some really excited news at work (!!!) and can't wait to see what the new'ish year will bring. Big things are happening in my career, and I truly couldn't be more thankful! I know I've held back in the past talking about what I do, but once things calm down here a little bit, I would like to share my careet stor - it's been a unique one!

Ok, I'm out! But first, what are you up to today? Are you super psyched that it's already February?
