Happy Birthday, sweet husband of mine! Today, you're a year older, a bit wiser and more handsome than ever -- inside and out. I feel so incredibly lucky to have this be the 10th birthday we've celebrated together, and I truly look forward to all the birthdays and special celebrations ahead of us in the years to come (because I know they're just going to get better and better as the years go on).

Today, you're 27, and finally the same age as me! So welcome to the club, my dear, and here's to an incredible, amazing, adventurous, spectacular year!

With all my love,
Your Loving Wife xoxo

October 19, 2015

Hello, sweet friends! Another beautiful October weekend has come and gone and now we're just days away from our Pacific Northwest adventure. Other than going to Pineapple Triangle, a local artisan market, we laid pretty low this weekend -- doing laundry, nursing a nasty sinus infection, and getting ready for our trip. We did take a drive down the prettiest, most dreamy street in downtown Mesa where every house was decorate for Halloween and there was leaves on the ground -- looked like something straight out of Stars Halloween! Speaking of GG, did you guys hear that "supposedly" Gilmore Girls is having a revival series on Netflix?! AHHH! Can you hear me screaming at the top of my lungs over how excited I am? I've been a GG fans since the very beginning, so to think that there might be a possibility of getting a glimpse in Luke's diner or seeing Stars Hallow in its forever autumnal state again is crazy awesome and exciting -- fingers crossed!

Ok, friends -- I'm out for the evening, but I hope ya'll have a lovely one! Oh, and if anyone has any Seattle suggestions I'm still all ears! Promise to share lots while we're there -- catch more of our adventures on Instagram and Snapchat -- UN: Chelseabirdd! Talk soon, friends!

October always seem to bring out two sides of my personal style -- one being my super autumnal side that just wants to wear rust, orange, red, brown, yellow and grey all day, and the other being my "edgier" side where all I want to do is wear black and pull out all my studded pieces (or dress like the Sanderson sisters from Hocus Pocus -- but that feels less appropriate for every day, haha). Either way, I've been all about layering lately and really getting into fall the season. It's hard to believe that we're already half through October -- seriously, where has the month gone? October is my very favorite month, so I'm hoping these next few days slow down just a bit. A week from Wednesday we'll be in Seattle, and I just can't wait to see all of the fall colors and soak in all the chilly weather there -- it's going to be amazing!

I'm currently curled up in my pjs with my kitty, Peter, right by my side. I've been watching the tv show "Fixer Upper" for the past two hours and I seriously can't stop watching it! Have you guys seen this show before? Chip and Jojo Gaines are so cute and I seriously wish they would come makeover our home -- not sure that will happen unless we move to Waco, Texas, though, so here's to dreaming they expand their market sometime in the near future. ;) Ok, I'm gonna go make some tea and settled down for the evening -- Scott and I both have had this nasty sinus headache/drippy nose thing going on all day long, so I'm hoping for some relief soon and a good night's rest for the both of us.

Sleep tight, loves!

October 11, 2015

Heyo! I hope ya'll are having the loveliest weekend. The last few days around here have been crazy busy, but also so amazing because it's finally feeling like autumn outside -- 60's degrees, drizzly days, sweater weather and all the pumpkin spice coffee (Trader Joe's has the best kind!). I actually got caught in a huge rainstorm on Tuesday afternoon while walking back from picking up lunch, and may ended up soaked from head to toe when I finally got back to the office -- let's just say I kicked off my shoes afterward, dried off with a few paper towels and dug around in my car for a spare sweater. It was definitely not one of my most graceful moments, but looking back, it sure was funny and I totally deserved that donut I devoured while waiting for my hair to dry, haha. ;)

Leading up to this weekend, we took things pretty slow -- Scott made a big pot of chili to bring into his work's chili cook-off on Friday, and I lounged around and watched Tardy for the Party (super guilty pleasure!). We had a busy weekend with helping out at the Tempe Oktoberfest (something we do every year!), and attending the Bloguettes Arizona Influencer Brunch. It really was a great one, though, and now we're doing our best to rest up a bit before the work week starts tomorrow.

Well, I'm gonna go eat dinner and watch more of the most terrifying places in America on the Travel Channel. I've been loving all of these spooky shows that have been on lately, and can't wait for ABC's 13 Days of Halloween to start so soon! Have a great evening, friends!

October 6, 2015

Hi, sweet friends! I hope ya'll had a lovely October weekend. Our weekend was mostly spent at home, taking things slow, eating breakfast for dinner, working in the yard, grabbing coffees at Peixoto, hanging out at our local farmer's market and spending time with our family. I'm not usually one for such slow weekends, but since I knew we were going to have a crazy Friday, Saturday and Sunday this weekend, I tried to soak in every second to make up for the madness that's to come this week (Tempe Oktoberfest, anyone? Working there is going to be crazy, but we'll make it through, as we do every year! ;)).

Aside from being Mrs. lazypants this weekend, I did start planning out part of our Seattle trip that is now only 15 days away. I've got big plans to check out Pikes Place Market, the first Starbucks (just have to!), the Puget Sound (one of my most favorites place in the whole wide world), Moorea Seal's picturesque shop, my mom's childhood home and the gum wall (of course!). I haven't been to Seattle in many years, and this will be Scott's first trip to the Pacific Northwest, so we would both appreciate any all of your suggestions for shops, restaurants, donuts, scenic views and most importantly -- coffee! We're so excited to dive into the coffee culture there and already have a feeling that we'll be highly caffeinated during our whole trip -- which may or may not be a good idea, haha!

Speaking of Seattle, I may have already started to pick out my clothes for the trip. It's going to be in the 50's/60's during the day, and this desert rat just isn't used to that chilly weather, so I'll be packing lots of sweaters, cozy socks, boots, scarves and maybe a hat or two. Just typing that out now reminded me of of one of my all-time favorite lyrics from The Postal Service -- "I'll be your winter coat buttoned and zipped straight to the throat, with the collar up so you won't catch a cold." Truly, it just makes me so excited to be in DCFC/TPS's home state -- here's to hoping I see Ben Gibbard running around Seattle one day. ;)

Madewell Arrow Necklace (similar!)

I have a feeling that the rest of the days leading up to the weekend are going to be crazy, but I'll sure be trying my best to soak in all the October feels I can get -- it's going to be beautiful outside and a PSL is calling my name! Also, two of my longest and sweetest blogging friends are both getting married to their price charmings this week -- Tieka & Moorea! I'll be sending them lots of positive thoughts and love this week and hope you'll do the same. Marriage is a beautiful, beautiful thing and I am so incredibly excited and happy for them both! Love you, ladies! Here's to a wonderful week!

October 1, 2015

"I'm so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.” - L.M. Montgomery, Anne of Green Gables. Miss Lucy sure knew what she was talking about when she penned this now famous line! ;) It's hard to believe it, but October is finally here and so the best month of the year begins. October is so special for so many reason -- it's the month that Scott and I started our journey together (nine years ago on the 24th!). It's also Scott's birthday month, and when we celebrate all things spooky and scary, of course. October is when it finally starts to cool down here in Phoenix, and the air, along with the leaves, begin to get a little crisp. I could honestly write out a whole page more of all the things I love about October, but for now I'll just leave you with this: PEIXOTO SPICE LATTE (the REAL PSL!).

I know I've been chatty about Apple Annie's Orchard, but picking apples was really the highlight of our trip. I've mentioned this, but Scott and I had never picked apples during the "traditional" apple picking season before, so seeing so many apples that were ripe for the picking felt like a real treat. When we first entered the orchard they gave us this little map that showed which types of apples they had and in which rows they would be in -- needless to say, Scott and I decided to just head straight for the back of the orchard because we figured it would be the least picked over. They had fuji, red delicious, and golden delicious apples all ready to be picked. I was secretly hoping they might have a few rows of honeycrisp apples, but none were to be found -- that's ok though, I'll just have to pick up a few when I'm in Seattle in a few weeks (more on that later!). ;)

This guy made our apple picking adventure so fun -- juggling around our picked apples, making me laugh as I jumped around trying to grab a few that were way at the top of the tree, only to come right behind me to pick them off with ease. I guess that's why he's my better half -- team work makes the dream work, right! ;)

We ended up picking just enough apples to make a delicious apple crisp pie. In the orchard's darling little market they had bags of homemade apple crisp mix, so after seeing that when we first got there we knew we had to get one and pick just enough apples to finish up the crisp. Along with crisp mix, they were selling every kind of apple, pumpkin and maple goodies you could image. In front of the market was a little makeshift booth that they were selling hot apple cider donuts out of -- the smell around here was SO heavenly, and the donuts were even better. For years I've wanted to try a hot apple cider donut, so it felt so good to finally have one. We may have taken home half a dozen with us, only after devouring two donuts there that were straight out of the fryer. YUMM!

Picking autumn apples with my love will be a memory that I know I'll hold near and dear to my heart forever. It just didn't get better than spending time with the one(s) you love, picking apples and getting excited about the fun and festive season ahead of you! Wouldn't you agree? Hope ya'll are having a great day, and don't forget to have a little autumn fun! October is here!
